Frequently Asked Questions For Waxing
All questions are welcome, if you don't see your question feel free to ask us!
How long does my hair need to be for waxing?
After shaving, you should allow the hair to grow out for about 3 weeks. It needs to be between a 1/4 inch to a 1/2 inch long.
How often can I get waxed?
The usual grow out time is between 4 and 6 weeks, that may very by person.
Does waxing hurt?
It's kind of like ripping off a band-aid, it stings but then the pain promptly goes away. The more you get waxed the more you get use to it and know what to expect. Avoiding caffeine prior to waxing can help as well.
What is a Brazilian?
A Brazilian removes all the hair on the labia and in the back "between the cheeks". You can leave as much hair as you want on the top. Some women like triangles and other prefer leaving a strip.
What should I do as far as aftercare?
It is important to keep the skin exfoliated after waxing. This will help the hair to come in easier which helps to prevent ingrowns. A topical exfoliation solution in combination with manual exfoliation using bath gloves or a loofa, works the best. It's also important to avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, scented lotions or oils, hot tubs and strenuous exercise for 24 hours after the wax as the skin is more sensitive during this time.
Should I trim my hair before getting waxed?
It's actually better if you don't trim your hair before your appointment. The longer the better and there is a risk that it could be trimmed too short.
Do certain medications prevent me from getting waxed?
Yes! You cannot get waxed if you are using Differin, Retin A, Renova or are using or have used Accutane in the last 12 months. Any medications that make you sensitive to the sun will also prevent you from being waxed, such as certain antibiotics. These medications weaken the skin and it is easier to get burned or to have the skin "lift". In addition, if you had just had a glycolic peel or intense exfoliation is best to wait 3 or 4 weeks before waxing. If you're not sure if you should get waxed due to medication or peels, feel free to contact me.
I'm on my period can I still come in for a Brazilian?
Of course! No worries! I do ask that you have a tampon in for the service.
I'm pregnant, can I still get waxed?
Definitely! A lot of pregnant women are making this their pre-labor ritual. Although keep in mind that pregnancy does make some women more sensitive.
Frequently Asked Questions for Lashes
What are lash extensions?
Lash extensions are individual synthetic mink lashes made to replicate your natural lash. Extensions darken and thicken your natural lashes.
How are lash extensions applied?
Extensions are applied one by one, one extension per one natural lash. A bead of adhesive is applied at the base of the extension, which is then placed at the base of your natural lash.
How long will my extensions last?
Everybody is different. Based on your natural lash growth cycle you should get fills every two to three weeks.
Why can’t I go longer than three weeks for a fill?
If you wait longer than three weeks your natural lashes will have grown out too far, resulting in more clean up to do at the time of your fill. To make sure you are keeping your lashes full please stay within two to three weeks. After three weeks a new full set will be required.
Can I wear mascara on my lash extensions?
No! Please refrain from wearing any type of mascara on your extensions. The whole point of having lashes is to not need mascara. Not to mention it is very difficult to get mascara completely removed from your extensions. If mascara gets built up in your lash line it can cause premature shedding, which nobody wants!
Can I still exercise or swim with my lashes?
Yes. As long as you wait the appropriate 24 hours after a full set or fill to expose your lashes to any water, steam or moisture. Still be cautious and careful with your lashes when preforming these activities.
How long will a full set take?
Two hours for existing clients, and two and a half hours for new clients. That way we make sure we have time for you to fill out paper work, discuss the look you desire, and are able to go over after care.
How long will a fill take?
An hour and fifteen minutes for existing clients (this allows 15 minutes to “clean” through your lashes, removing the grown out ones, and a full hour to fill in the new growth.)
An hour and thirty minutes for new clients (this allows 15 minutes to fill out paper work and answer any questions you may have, 15 minutes to “clean” through your lashes, removing grown out ones, and a full hour to fill in the new growth.)
How do I choose the lashes I want?
This all depends on your natural lashes, their length, curl and thickness. The most important thing when getting lash extensions is keeping your natural lashes healthy! Any extension will improve the look of your natural lashes, and every lash looks different on every person! Ideas and pictures of looks you like are helpful to bring to your appointment! I have many different lash lengths, curls and thicknesses for every client! Whether that be natural or glamorous!
Do my natural lashes shed?
Yes. Everybody has a natural shedding cycle. Lashes shed usually every 60-90 days and new growth is then formed. When you experience a shedding cycle you will notice your extension coming out with a natural lash attached. Remember this is normal! You also lose three to five lashes a day. After having extensions you may notice this more, but again remember this is also normal! Everybody’s hair growth and cycle is different as well.
